Restaurants We Tried in August and LOVED

Restaurants-We-Tried-and-Loved-August

Sean and I love many things and one of the things at the top of that list is our love for food. We love finding and trying new restaurants. This month we got to try a few new restaurants and I’ll be sharing those with you today!

Au Lac

We went to Au Lac located in Los Angeles. It’s a Vietnamese plant based restaurant and most of their items on the menu are also raw. Sean got this recommendation from a friend and we decided to check it out. We started off with the Salt & Peppered Tofu, which was amazing! I could have a whole order for myself; in fact, I think I ate most of them… oops. I got the Pho and Sean got the Garlic Basil Noodles. I enjoyed the Pho, but I really enjoyed Sean’s noodles. Next time we go, because there will be a next time, I think I’ll get that or I’ll at least try something new. We ended the night with the Tirawmisu, which was the best part of the meal. Sean and I both loved this and were dreaming about it for the next few days. Definitely check this out if you’re in LA!

Veganic

Another restaurant we tried this month was Veganic located in San Diego. We had a weekend getaway and stayed one night in San Diego and while we were there, we checked out this restaurant. Sean and I love Thai food and although our go to restaurant near us is a Thai restaurant, we hardly get Thai dishes. We started off with Cream Cheese Wontons and the Satay. Sean isn’t a big “cheese” person so I ate most of the wontons but the satay was delicious. We got the combo that came with mock chicken and tofu satay. We both preferred the tofu one but both were delicious. For our main dishes, we shared the pad see ew and yellow curry. Sean loves pad see ew so we usually get this at any Thai restaurant we go to and we liked it here. The curry was amazing as well. For dessert, we got the Sweet Sticky Rice with Mango Ice Cream and this had to be our favorite. We want to try making this at home!

Doomies

The last restaurant we tried was Doomies in North Hollywood. I got this recommendation from my nail lady. It’s an “American” restaurant that is vegan, although they do offer cheese for their sandwiches, which baffles me but that’s another story. Sean got the Spicy “Chicken” sandwich and I got the Western Burger. I’m also on the hunt to find amazing mac and “cheese” and so I added that to my order as well. We both enjoyed the food and the mac and “cheese” was the second best I’ve had so far, first being the one from Souly Vegan.

If you’re ever in Southern California and looking for a good restaurant to try, we definitely recommend all of these!

Have you been to any of these? Would you try any of them?

The first restaurant – Vietnamese plant based one – you’ve tried sounded very interesting. I’ve never heard about such a restaurant. The dessert looks amazing and delicious.

Oh these places look fantastic! I love trying new Vegan restaurants so I definitely want to check these out. I’m really interested in the pho from Au Lac cause it’s rare to find a vegan one near my place.
